GASKAP-HI Pilot Survey HI Absorption Spectra

A collection of neutral hydrogen (HI) absorption spectra produced from GASKAP-HI pilot phase I and II observations with the ASKAP telescope. The dataset contains 3219 sightlines across the Large (LMC) and Small Magellanic Clouds (SMC) and the Magellanic Bridge (MB) towards 1.4-GHz continuum sources. In addition, this dataset includes coverage of the Galactic foreground towards the Magellanic targets, covering the region of the Reticulum and Hydrus large-scale filaments.

For each sightline we provide the HI absorption spectra in both native (0.24 km/s) and averaged (0.96 km/s) velocity resolution as well as matching HI emission spectra taken from the emission spectral line cubes produced from the same observations. We support these with plots of the spectra; index pages of all spectra, detections and low noise spectra; plus diagnostic plots showing source extents, pixel weight and moment 0 maps.

The Magellanic and Galactic data sets are presented separately as they are based on different subsets of the total observations. For each of these data sets we provide a summary catalog for each of the native and averaged velocity resolution spectra. We also provide catalogues of the absorption features detected in the spectra.

Lastly, we also provide more detailed analysis of the Magellanic Bridge spectra with a catalogue of MB spectra, spectra Gaussian fitting solutions, and catalogues of warm and cold neutral medium Gaussian components.
