Sectoral Territorial Plan for the Management of Margins of the Rivers and Arroyos of the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country

The Plan develops the determinations of the Territorial Planning Guidelines in two ways: on the one hand, specifying and materialising the criteria regarding the protection to be granted to the channels in order to avoid flooding in the different avenues of water and, on the other, establishing the criteria for protecting the margins of the riverbeds in view of the ecological value of their riverside vegetation, in order to conclude in some management criteria of the different sections of each channel in terms of the different uses that could occur in their margins, mainly in relation to urban and building uses. Thus, one of the fundamental proposals of this Territorial Sectoral Plan is the division of all watercourses by stretches of homogeneous problems and their zoning based on the analysis of three components: environmental, hydraulic and urban planning.
