Agricultural Resource Area (ARA)

Agricultural Resource Areas were introduced with the Antelope Valley Area Plan adopted on 6/16/15 by the Board of Supervisors. They are meant to preserve Agricultural activities and encourage low-density development in the UNINCORPORATED Antelope Valley. For more information, please refer to the Antelope Valley Area Plan, Chapter 4. Updated following the adoption of the General Plan 2035 by the Board of Supervisors on 11/5/15. Established in 1982, State of California Government Code Section 65570 mandates the Farmland Mapping and Monitoring Program (FMMP) to biennially report on the conversion of farmland and grazing land, and to provide maps and data to local government and the public.
