This dataset supports the article: Tran Van Duong (2025). Spatial Conceptualization in Vietnamese: A Contrastive Analysis of ‘Ra’ and ‘Vào’ and Their English Equivalents. Cognitive Semantics. DOI: https://doi.org/10.1163/23526416-bja10086------------------This dataset is a bilingual parallel corpus focusing on the Vietnamese directional markers “ra” (roughly ‘out/outwards’) and “vào” (roughly ‘in/inwards’). It compiles 630 instances of these markers as they appear in contemporary Vietnamese fiction, together with their corresponding English translations: 275 occurrences of “ra” and 355 occurrences of “vào.”The dataset was created to facilitate a contrastive analysis of spatial conceptualization in Vietnamese and English.
