Retrospective analysis, delineation and damage assessment of floods in Germany (2024-05-30)

The aim of this activation, "a Retrospective analysis, delineation and damage assessment of the floods which occurred in Germany" in the first half of June 2024, is to provide the Federal Office of Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance (BBK) with an overview of the event, its impact over the AOI and the related statistics.
The AOI extents over the South of Germany, from the western Stuttgart to the eastern border with Austria, including rivers from the basins of Neckar, Main and Donau. Starting from the 30th of May 2024 the area was exposed to a constat rainfall in the beginning followed by intense rainfall and thunderstorms the days after. Consequences were also extreme and devasting floods (>100y return period).
