This dataset is related to student cohesiveness, equity, teacher support, teacher autonomy support and student engagement (behavioural, cognitive, emotional and agentic) collected from Rwandan secondary school students. It is delivered from a study which examined how classroom environment of student cohesiveness, equity, teacher support and teacher autonomy support predicts Behavioural Engagement (BE), Cognitive Engagement (CE), Emotional Engagement (EE) and Agentic Engagement (AE) of secondary school students. Data was collected from 305 students (150 males and 155 females). The four subscales (Student Cohesiveness: 8 items, Equity: 8 items, Teacher Support: 8 items) of What Is Happening In this Class (WIHIC) questionnaire, with a rating scale ranging from 1 to 5, where 1 = almost never and 5 = almost always; a short form of the Learning Climate Questionnaire (15 items on a 5-point Likert-type scale ranging from 1 = strongly disagree to 5 = strongly agree, with an intermediate score of 3 (neutral).), and Student engagement Questionnaire (BE: 5 items; CE: 4 items; EE: 5 items and AE: 7 items, all answered on a 5-point Likert-type scale ranging from 1 = strongly disagree to 5 = strongly agree, with an intermediate score of 3 (neutral).) were used to collect data.
