Regulatory zoning of Dairy RPPs (Clay withdrawal/inflation) approved in Haute-Garonne.
The removal and swelling of some clay soils has long been observed in arid and semi-arid climate countries where they cause many damage to buildings, networks and roads.
Insurance coverage of claims resulting from differential land movements due to the withdrawal and inflating of clays was made possible by the application of Law No. 82-600 of 13 July 1982 on compensation to victims of natural disasters.
In the particular case of clay withdrawal and swelling, the areas concerned, even subject to a hazard considered to be high, remain constructable. The requirements imposed are, for the most part, rules of common sense, the implementation of which entails only a relatively small additional cost, but compliance with which makes it possible to considerably reduce the problems caused to the building, even in the presence of land which is highly susceptible to the phenomenon of withdrawal-inflating.
