Paedocypris Genome sequencing and assembly. Paedocypris

Paedocypris is the world’s smallest vertebrate genus and minifishes belonging to this genus are restricted to and only can be found in tannin-stained, highly acidic blackwater peat swamp forests. To date, three species have been described for the genus and they are P. progenetica, P. micromegethes and P. carbunculus. They represent the world smallest vertebrate species with smallest recorded length of 7.9 mm for fully mature female fish (P. progenetica). Whole genome sequencing and de novo assembly of the minifishes genome are carried out to provide insights on miniaturization and its adaptation in highly acidic habitat.
