资源简介:
The purpose of an admission register was to record basic details about children admitted to the school, and about their parents or guardians. The registers were also used to record the progress of the children through various classes and the date of their leaving the school. The series from Sandgate Infants’ School consists of a single volume, in which are recorded all admissions to the school during its entire period of operation, from 1942 until 1969. This volume contains information pertaining to each pupil including: date of admission; pupil's name; date of birth; religious denomination; name of previous school and date of leaving. The following details are recorded about the child's parents or guardians: name, residence and occupation. The pupil's dates of admission to each subsequent grade and date of leaving the school are also recorded, and a final column, headed “Occupation entered upon,” is used in this volume to record the school to which a pupil transferred upon leaving. The transfers of those pupils – seventeen in number – still enrolled at the time of the school’s closure have been entered in red ink.Girls and boys are listed on opposite pages in order of admission, and numbered separately. This numbering normally starts anew at the beginning of each new school year, except that the numbering for 1943 continues that for 1942.
