资源简介:
Polianthes tuberosa (tuberose) has been traditionally regarded as an aphrodisiac across various cultures. However, despite ethnobotanical claims and the identification of relevant bioactive compounds, its aphrodisiac characteristics have not been verified in controlled scientific studies.Albino rats were given extracted tuberose oil for three weeks. Four groupings were formed (n = 6 per group): low dose (200 mg/kg), standard (sildenafil citrate 5 mg/kg), high dose (400 mg/kg), and control (normal saline). Mating behaviours, mating performance, hormone analysis, sperm analysis, and reproductive organ analysis were the factors that were observed.Tuberose oil-treated albino rats weighed more and performed better during sexual activity, as seen by longer ejaculatory latency, lower post-ejaculatory latency, higher mount and intromission frequency, and lower mount and intromission latency. Hormonal studies revealed dose-dependent rises in FSH, LH, and testosterone. The testes displayed normal histology, and the sperm had increased motility, viability, and count, according to analysis.Tuberose oil demonstrates aphrodisiac activity via neuroendocrine and reproductive mechanisms and could be used as a possible phytotherapeutic agent for male sexual dysfunction. These results imply that Polianthes tuberosa may be a useful aphrodisiac agent and have potential use in addressing sexual health issues.
