An outbreak of genetically related hepatitis A virus (HAV) infections amongst people with no travel history was identified by the Public Health England (PHE) Virus Reference Department (VRD). Separately Health Protection Teams (HPT) reported a large number of cases who had reported consumption of dates. Here we describe the findings of investigations to date, including case characteristics, phylogenetics, results of analytical studies, and control measures.
