Issuance of Cost Information

Monitor the volume of cost information issued in hospital institutions (in the areas of urgency and external consultation) in order to promote cost transparency and information sharing. The objective of this information is to raise citizens’ awareness of the national economic effort, thus promoting the most appropriate use of hospital care, in order to ensure an optimal and efficient use of the available resources and continue to guarantee the right to health protection, the realisation of which results in a joint responsibility of citizens, society and the State. The information on the Costs of Health Care is framed in the Program of the XIX Constitutional Government and, in addition, the set of recommendations that incorporate the initiatives proposed by the Technical Group for Hospital Reform (GTRH), created by Order No. 10601/2011 of 16 August, where the importance of informing citizens of their rights is highlighted. As such, it was determined that the institutions would make available information on the costs incurred for all health services provided to the user, borne by the State, in accordance with the SNS price list. The information on costs incurred made available is purely informative, and it is duly explained to the user that it does not imply any additional payment. **Remarks:** The values of the Centro Hospitalar e Universitário de Coimbra, EPE contains the sum of the cost information issued at all centers of the Hospital Center (with and without SONHO system).
