Additional Habitat for the Desert Slender Salamander

The project of perhaps the greatest interest to herpetologists was a brief survey conducted by Derham Giuliani, under auspices of the Bureau of Land Management, from early January through late spring. He conducted a search for additional habitat for the Desert Slender Salamander, heretofore known only from one location adjacent to the Center in the Hidden Palms sector. Giuliani is believed to have found an additional population, on Deep Canyon land, in Guadalupe Canyon. It has not been determined positively that the new population is the same species, but it is a "probable" extension of the range of this species.
