METHODOLOGY OF DEVELOPING COMMUNICATIVE COMPETENCE: FROM THEORY TO CLASSROOM PRACTICE

This article provides a comprehensive examination of the methodologies employed in developing communicative competence in language learners, tracing the evolution of this concept from its theoretical origins to contemporary classroom applications. Drawing upon decades of research in applied linguistics, sociolinguistics, and second language acquisition, the article synthesizes major theoretical frameworks including Hymes' communicative competence, Canale and Swain's four-component model, and Bachman's communicative language ability. The central argument posits that developing communicative competence requires a multi-dimensional, integrated approach that addresses grammatical, sociolinguistic, discourse, and strategic competence.
