Subjective reasons for separation. The scientific-use file contains data of the six waves (including the variables of both partners). <b>Please note that the data provider unfortunately does not make the data available to bachelor students due to the complex data structure (panel and dyads). </b> Relationship structure: relationship status; month and year of the first start of the relationship in the event of an interim separation; month and year of the start of the current relationship; duration (in weeks and months) from the first date to the time the partners identified themselves as a fixed couple; location or type of getting acquainted (e.g., online or offline); duration of the acquaintance before the beginning of the solid partnership; interruption of the relationship by separation and resumption of the relationship; jointly spent time; number of well-established partnerships so far; joint household; concrete plans for a joint household; pregnancy; concrete plans for common children; marriage; engagement or concrete plans to marry. Quality of the relationship and alternatives: relationship satisfaction (several items); future orientation (desire for a long-term relationship with the partner); separation abilities; commitment (sense of commitment to the partner); degree of infatuation; presence of a better potential partner; attitude towards this person; Interest of the person in having a relationship with the respondent. Interaction and communication: partner communicates feeling of security and exclusivity of the relationship (several items); attitudes and behavior of the partner towards the respondent: acceptance; support; expectation of a consideration; jealousy; recognition and confirmation; expression of love and affection; criticism; devaluation and injury; emotional proximity to the partner, familiarity / disability of the partner); streakiness; frequency of constructive and destructive behavior in conflict situations by the partner (calmly and calmly discussing, attempting to understand the partner´s point of view, attempting to find a satisfactory solution for both, conciliatory, screaming, insulting , refuse to communicate). Sexuality: sexual desire of the partner and the quality of the sexual life. Common interests: consistency in important areas of life (values, political beliefs, life goals, leisure activities and hobbies, lifestyle and conduct of life). Physical attractiveness and partner value: (self-) assessment of the appearance as well as the appearance of the (former) partner; (self-) assessment of the appearance and appearance of the (former) partner from the perspective of others; assessment of how attractive the respondents are perceived by their partners; attractiveness rating (AR1, GESIS, facial attractiveness, Lutz et al. 2013) - (self-) assessment of one´s own attractiveness as well as the attractiveness of the partner; importance of the partner´s appearance for the respondent; satisfaction with one´s own appearance and with the appearance of the partner; own chances and chances of the partner to find a new partner (Mating Confidence and partner value, (Brüderl et al., 2016, Walper et al.) Body shape: indication of one´s own body shape and of partner’s body shape; Indication of the ideal and preferred counter-sexual body shape; assessment of the respondent about the opposite sex body shape preferred by the partner (assessment based on silhouettes representing different waist-hip proportions as well as shoulder shapes). Personality: Big Five Inventory: BFI 10 + 1 (Rammstedt et al., 2007; Rammstedt & John 2007): assessment of personality characteristics as well as those of the partner: extraversion, conscientiousness, neuroticism, openness for experiences, tolerability, comfortable, relaxed, little artistic interest, sociable, criticism, efficient execution of tasks, nervous and unsure, active imagination, ruthless). Demography and general characteristics: sex; age (year of birth); highest educational degree; highest educational attainment; employment status (in the case of non-employment: reason for non-employment); size of locality (BIK 7); distance to the apartment of the partner; net income of the household; household size; private internet use; children under 14 years in the own household; state of the main residence; LINK panel user; body size in centimeters; body weight in kilograms; health status; frequency of exercise; smoker status; detailed information on alcohol consumption; self-assessment of the social stratum affiliation and social stratum affiliation of the partner; monthly net income (categorized); religious affiliation; education in the sense of religion; religiousness; common children with another husband / wife other than the partner; this child lives in the respondent´s household; respondent wants children; family status of parents; age at separation or divorce of the parents; country of respondent´s growing up (if Germany: East or West Germany); family structure during the childhood of the respondent; life satisfaction and general well-being. Questionnaire for separated couples: In addition to some of the above, the questionnaire for separated couples has been recorded as follows: partner from which the separation originated; subjective reasons for separation (closed questions and open questions); how good is the separation. In the case of change of social structure characteristics and general characteristics (education, weight, health, sports, smoking, alcohol consumption, shift, net income, religiosity, address, desire for children): change before or after separation.
