On the change of the mammalian fauna of the Neusiedlersee region over the last three decades

Through progressive landscape-changing interventions, man contributes to the former cohesive natu & 776;ral habitats to be fragmented and new ones created. The result is in many cases a mosaic of opposing habitatinness" (cf. Curtis 1956, Palotas & Demeter 1983). In the Neusiedlersee area there has been a fundamental structural change in the landscape over the last 30 years due to such interventions.
