La terra dei tabù. L'interdizione linguistica di paura nel Vocabolario dei Dialetti Salentini di G. Rohlfs

This paper will analyze the use of euphemistic terms within the Vocabolario dei Dialetti Salentini by Gerhard Rohlfs. The study will focus specifically on lexical entries whose formation can be explained by the influence of linguistic interdiction phenomena motivated by fear. By examining semantic fields (such as names of God and certain religious figures, names of specific diseases, and vocabulary related to death and dying), an attempt will be made to reconstruct the etymological history of these terms, providing, where possible, references to the psychological, social, and cultural motivations that may have contributed to their development.
