RNA based gene-fusion analysis in FOLLICULAR NODULAR DISEASE

Thyroid disease is the most common endocrine disease worldwide. Follicular nodular disease (FND) comprising Follicular adenoma, nodular hyperplasia, and hyperplastic goiter is a benign condition with increasing incidence. FND merits surgery FNAC cannot differentiate between follicular adenoma and follicular thyroid carcinoma. The etiology of FND remains elusive. There is lack of data regarding gene-rearrangements in FA or FNA nor FTC. Hence, RNA-based gene-fusion analysis of FND will pave the way for better molecular understanding of tumor biology.
