In this study, we investigated whether S. pyogenes membrane vesicles trigger a distinguishable transcriptional response from their parental cells when encountering human monocytes. Human monocytes and BLaER1 cells were left untreated, infected with S. pyogenes, or treated with S. pyogenes membrane vesicles. RNA-Sequencing and transcriptomic analyses were performed to measure the responses of the cells.
