Disentangling drivers of latitudinal beta variations across intertidal microbiomes

This dataset comprises microbial community profiles from intertidal zones along the latitudinal gradients of China's coasts, exploring the diversity patterns of bacteria, archaea, fungi, and protists. The study demonstrates distinct biodiversity patterns among these microbial domains, with bacteria, archaea, and protists showing curvilinear diversity responses to latitudinal changes, while fungi exhibit a linear decline. It also examines the ecological processes influencing these patterns, highlighting the roles of selection, dispersal limitation, and drift. Findings from this dataset enhance our understanding of how local assembly processes and regional species pools shape microbial diversity across geographic gradients, offering insights into conservation and management of marine ecosystems.
