NRS-13823 | Receipts for deeds of grant [Surveyor General]

These receipts were issued when the deeds of grant were handed over to the grantee or his agent at the Treasury. After June 1856 the deeds were issued at the Surveyor General's Department, when presumably the earlier receipts were transferred to the custody of the Survey Office. The receipts show the name of the person collecting the deed, the date of the deed, the page and volume number in the Colonial Secretary's Register of Land Grants (up to 1851), the area and situation of the land, the name of the grantee, and details of Quit Rent due, if payable. The earliest volume indicates that deeds were at that time issued at the Surveyor General's Office.(7/1107-47). 41 vols.
