In deep-sea methane seepage environments, or “cold seeps”, the kinetics of methane hydrate formation within porous seabed sediments are crucial for determining the ultimate fate of methane. Porous authigenic carbonates are ubiquitous in cold seep areas, yet their impact on the formation kinetics of methane hydrate remains entirely unexplored. Given the challenges of in situ deep-sea experimentation, this study simulated cold seep environments to investigate methane hydrate formation in carbonate sediments. This document primarily concerns methane gas consumption data during the formation of methane hydrates in various sediments, such as carbonates.
