We reported the first identification of visceral leishmaniasis (VL) caused by Leishmania donovani in previously unknown focus in northern Somalia. Clinical and epidemiological characteristics of 118 VL cases seen in 2013-2019 in Bossaso have raised suspicion of VL endemicity status here, but further work is needed.
