Symptom Generation in Functional Bowel Disorders (SYMBOWL)

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a gastrointestinal disorder characterized by recurrent abdominal pain and altered bowel habits. Alterations in gut microbiota and metabolites are thought to contribute to symptom development. This study uses fecal metagenomic sequencing and metabolomics to investigate host–microbiota interactions in IBS, generating datasets to support the identification of molecular mechanisms and potential therapeutic targets.
