资源简介:
Acute intestinal infections caused by diarrheagenic E. coli (DEC) are among the most important causes of childhood diarrhea in developing countries. DEC are differentiated by the presence of certain virulence genes, features of pathogenesis >and clinical and epidemiological manifestations of diseases caused by them. Currently, there are six pathogroups: - enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC); enterotoxigenic E. coli (ETEC); - enteroinvasive/E. coli (EIEC); - shigatoxin- producing E. coli (STEC); - enteroaggregative E. coli (EAgEC); - diffuse-adherent E. coli (DAEC). The strains of each pathogroup of DEC are characterized by specific pathogenetic mechanisms that ensure the development of the inflammatory process in different parts of the human intestine, clinicallymanifested by diarrheal syndrome. Despite the long - term and versatile study of the biological properties of diarrheal E. coli, many aspects of the biology of this species require a more in-depth analysis at the current level of knowledge necessary for the development of effective methods of laboratory diagnostics, treatment, and prevention of escherichiosis.
