NRS-20842 | Register of Applications to Purchase Land on Gold Fields in virtue of Improvements [Bellingen Lands Office]

This register contains a summary record of applications to purchase land on gold fields in virtue of improvements in the Land District of Bellingen, kept by the Bellingen Lands Office.According to the Lands Acts Amendment Act of 1875 (39 Vic. No.13), improvements were "any work or erection of a fixed character and such as would render more beneficial the occupation and use of the land, and which shall have been constructed, erected, placed, made or maintained at the cost of the person applying to purchase in respect of any such improvements."The register records information such as the number of application, date of application, name and address of applicant, value and description of improvements, date of receipt of application, area, survey fee, and deposit, description in full of land applied for, name of the gold field, number etc., of miner's right or business license, date application was transmitted to the Local Land Board, the appraised value, date published in the NSW Government Gazette, and any further remarks.
