In this project, we developed a novel antimicrobial peptide with antibacterial and antibiofilm properties. This peptide was tested for its bactericidal activity against intestinal pathogens. We could show that the human defensin fragment could reduced acute intestinal Salmonella and established Citrobacter infection, with minimal-side-effect on the gut microbiota.
