Antibiotic altered gut microbiota from aquatic pond snails (Lymnaea stagnalis)

Pond snails were subjected to an acute antibiotic exposure at four different concentrations for 72 hours. Entire snail guts were dissected under sterile conditions. The V3-V4 variable region of the 16S rRNA gene was amplified from the DNA extracts using the 16S rRNA metagenomic sequencing library protocol (Illumina). To test the effects of antibiotics and the gut microbiome on snails, we measured a suite of traits that are commonly considered part of pace-of-life phenotypes.
