资源简介:
MACMORRIS was a four-year (2019-2023) Irish Research Council funded project which recovered the complexity and richness of early modern Ireland, by mapping the full range of cultural activity, across languages and ethnic groups, from 1541 to 1660. It is a largely bilingual resource that provides the first inclusive account of creative, scholarly, and intellectual activity in a time of conquest, plantation, and colonisation. It opens a window on a world on the cusp of drastic change and puts in place the resources for understanding what stood to be lost in a time of dynamic and often violent encounter. The MACMORRIS dataset contains biographical and bibliographical metadata of people active in Ireland between 1541 and 1660. Along with soldiers, administrators, merchants, clergy etc., this dataset incorporates cultural producers of all kinds, across languages: poets, pamphleteers, chroniclers, theologians; translators; inventors, and innovators; patrons; and members of the aos ealadhan (learned class).
