3D Printed Mixed Matrix Membranes for Small Molecule Separation

Hydrogen is a suitable replacement for fossil fuels. While hydrogen generation is relatively easy, its transport is neither safe nor efficient. However, we can attach hydrogen to a safer liquid and transport the liquid, detach it at the use point, and avoid the issues. Interestingly, we can repurpose the existing infrastructure in fossil fuel industries to transport the hydrogen bearing-liquid. To ensure that we extract all the attached hydrogen at the use point, we need an energy-efficient separation. My research was developing novel filters that can perform the separation with minimal energy while increasing the hydrogen transport efficiency.
