资源简介:
These are the video files for analogue experiments of bubble-driven magma motion, for persistently degassing lava lakes. In the videos, gas is fluxed up through a tube of initially stagnant liquid. The video files have the naming convention of gas flux (mL/min) followed by liquid viscosity (mPa*s). At the beginning of each experiment, I placed food dye at the top surface of the liquid, which acted as a tracer for liquid motion. I measured the dye return flow velocity, as well as the gas fraction in the tube, and bubble size and velocities. In some videos (with dark golden syrup as the liquid), the dye is difficult to see; however, the dye was more evident in person. These experiments are used to deduce how fast magma convects in a confined conduit, depending on the gas flux and magma rheology.
