The goal of this project was to understand the bacterial community structure in litter and soil layers at a headwater catchment scale. The study was conducted in the Katsura Headwater Catchment, located in Ibaraki prefecture, central Japan. We used amplicon-based sequencing of 16S rRNA gene V4 region (515F/806R) to characterize the bacterial community.
