资源简介:
**Overview** Health indicators are quantifiable characteristics of a population which researchers use as supporting evidence for describing the health of a population. The researchers use a survey methodology to gather information about certain people, use statistics in an attempt to generalize the information collected to the entire population, then use the statistical analysis to make a statement about the health of a population. Health indicators are often used by governments to guide health care policy. **Description** This data package contains a number of datasets containing information on various health indicators. Health indicators are summary measures that are designed to describe particular aspects of a population's health or health system performance. One set of datasets provides information on Medicare fee-for-service beneficiaries by number and percent for atrial fibrillation, heart attack and heart failure and ischemic heart disease. Few datasets provide national and state estimates of alcohol-related health impacts, including deaths and years of potential life lost (YPLL). These estimates are calculated for 54 acute and chronic causes using alcohol-attributable fractions and are reported by age and sex for 2006-2010. The chronic disease indicators (CDI) are a set of surveillance indicators developed by consensus among CDC, the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists (CSTE), and the National Association of Chronic Disease Directors (NACDD). CDI enables public health professionals and policymakers to retrieve uniformly defined state and selected metropolitan-level data for chronic diseases and risk factors that have a substantial impact on public health. These indicators are essential for surveillance, prioritization, and evaluation of public health interventions. **Benefits** - Enhances collaboration to address public issues. it provides tools to encourage progress. informs decision making and improves research. increases public knowledge about key issues **License Information** The use of John Snow Labs datasets is free for personal and research purposes.
