Statue of a Woman

资源简介:
This female figure is one of the most stylistically advanced of the set at The British Museum (GR 1859.12-26.9 - Sculpture B 280). She wears a chiton (tunic) and a himation (cloak) around her shoulders. Her head, now lost, was covered by a veil. She was probably a member of the local aristocracy but, unfortunately, there is no identifying inscription. A cross carved above her right breast, most certainly from iconoclasm, dates to the early Christian period.
