Updated recA and radA gene database for Ocean microbial studies.The new databases have added the recA and radA genes from Tara Ocean/MALASPINA datasets (https://tara-oceans.mio.osupytheas.fr/) and ProSynTax (https://www.nature.com/articles/s41597-025-06164-5). The function of new sequences were also annotated by https://www.kegg.jp/ghostkoala/. The pooled recA dateset was also functional annotated by GhostKOALA and clustered with CD-HIT based on 99% identity.Based on our analysis, the number of recA hits was significantly increased (~+30%) based on the new recA database for the seawater of 500m and 890m depths.So we strongly encourage researchers to update their recA gene database accordingly.
