Wie gefährlich sind Religionen und wie riskant sind ihre Fundamentalismuspotentiale? Anstöße für Diskurse und Polyloge

Fast alle Religionen haben ein hohes Fundamentalismuspotential, denn sie beanspruchen, letztgültige Wahrheit zu besitzen, verlangen unbedingten Gehorsam Dogmen gegenüber und trachten Andersgläubige zu bekehren oder zu verfolgen. Das lässt sich in der Geschichte aller Großreligionen finden bis in die Gegenwart, wo fundamentalistische Strömungen in Terror abgleiten und ohne Revision ihrer prekären oder gefährlichen Passagen ihre Heiligen Schriften und Gebote in toto höher stellen als demokratische Verfassungen, Gesetze und Menschenrechte. Diese Extremismuspotentiale müssen im zivilgesellschaftlichen Diskurs mutig offengelegt werden, u.a. von den TheologInnen dieser Religionen selbst. Menschenverachtenden Varianten religiöser Ausrichtungen ist keine falsche Toleranz entgegen zu bringen, sondern es ist Wachsamkeit und Überzeugungsarbeit angesagt und es ist Positionen der Inhumanität entgegen zu treten. Die Psychotherapie in ihrer Funktion „kritischer Kulturarbeit“ muss sich mit diesen Themen viel aktiver und couragierter auseinandersetzen, als dies bislang geschieht, denn es geht um unsere Freiheit und Menschlichkeit. Nearly all religions are endowed with a high potential for fundamentalism, because they claim to dispose of the ultimate truth. They are asking for unconditional obedience what doctrine is concerned and they strive to convert believers of other creeds or to persecute them. This can be found in the history of all the great religions up to the present day where fundamentalist mainstreams pervert into terror placing without revision of precarious and dangerous content their holy scriptures and religious commandments in toto higher than democratic constitutions, civic laws and human rights. This potential for extremism has to be disclosed for public scrutiny being discussed in discourses of civic society also by the theologians of these religions themselves. Contempt for humanity demonstrated by one or the other religious orientation cannot tolerated by false consideration but has to be confronted with vigilance and a lot of convincing. Ideologies of inhumanity have to be countered.
