Cleanliness index per quarter and residential area

This dataset contains the cleanliness index for all residential districts in the city of Basel. For the calculation of the cleanliness index, the following procedure is used: Cameras are installed on the sweeping direction vehicles, which take video recordings of the roads during the operations. A computer then searches these video recordings for waste. This sorts the waste into different waste categories (cigarette butts, paper, PET bottles, etc.) and counts the number of wastes found in each category. In addition, the degree of contamination and the disturbance factor are determined for each waste category. This is used to calculate the cleanliness index. After that, the video recordings are deleted immediately for data protection reasons.The cleanliness index is given on a scale from 0 to 5, whereby the values are assessed as follows: Less than 3: badbetween 3 and 4: Larger than 4: goodThe Grand Council mandates the Civil Engineering Office to achieve an index for the entire city of at least 4.5.The dataset is updated quarterly with the data of the previous quarter.
