Data Steward Job Descriptions: A European Dataset

A structured dataset of 43 European data steward job descriptions collected during May and June 2026, coded against a synthesised competency framework drawn from Skills4EOSC and RDNL. This deposit contains the dataset (DS-JDs-database.xlsx) and a README. The Excel workbook contains four sheets: Framework Reference (mapping of seven synthesised competency areas C1 to C7 against Skills4EOSC and RDNL); JDs_Database (the 43 postings catalogued with Dublin Core metadata); Coding & Gap (binary coding against the seven competency areas and eight Other Skills clusters CO1 to CO8); and Analysis (summary tables reproducing the figures used in the report). The sample includes 29 academic, 12 industry, and 2 infrastructure postings from 13 European countries. Original full-text JDs are not republished; only structured fields and source URLs are included, in line with the project Data Management Plan.
