The overall objective of this study was to explore aberrantly expressed microRNAs (miRNAs) and investigate their clinical significances in patients with extrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ECCA). Eighty-two patients who underwent curative resection for histologically confirmed ECCA at our institution from October 2004 to November 2015 were enrolled. miRNA expression microarrays for SNU-1196 and SNU-245 ECCA cell lines and normal human biliary epithelial cells (NHBEC) were performed. Real time quantitative polymerase chain reactions (RT-qPCR) for each cell lines and surgically resected ECCA tissue microarrays were also conducted.
