XMM-Newton Observations of Hot Diffuse Gas in NGC 2613

We propose an XMMNewton observation of NGCvirgul2613 in order to study the hotgaseous corona which is inferred by the kinematics of the HI data. The higheffective area of XMMNewton will allow us to accurately measure the temperatureand emission measure (from which we can infer the density and mass), as well asthe metal abundance of the hot gaseous corona. These observations and their comparisons with data from other wavebands willlead to a greater understanding of the formation mechanism of the gaseous halo and the interaction of the halo gas with the disk gas and with discrete outflowfeatures. truncated!, Please see actual data for full text [truncated!, Please see actual data for full text]
