Natura 2000 – Special Areas of Conservation (Habitat Areas)

Special areas of conservation designated under the European Habitats Directive. Updated in accordance with the Grand-Ducal Regulations of 28 October 2022. The purpose of the Special Areas of Conservation, established by the Habitats Directive in 1992, is the conservation of ecological sites with either: — natural or semi-natural habitats of Community interest, by virtue of their scarcity, or their primary ecological role (listed in Annex I to the Habitats Directive); — species of fauna and flora of Community interest, also for their scarcity, symbolic value and their essential role in the ecosystem (listed in Annex II to the Habitats Directive).
