We investigated the role of the Fsr quorum sensing system in infective endocarditis caused by E. faecalis. Using a rat model of infective endocarditis, we infected animals with the OG1RF WT strain and fsrABDC deletion mutant strain. We harvested heart valve vegetations at 72 hours post infection, isolated RNA, and performed RNAseq to compare the transcriptome between the OG1RF WT strain and fsrABDC deletion mutant strain.
