Dissecting the Neuroprotective Response in Exercise and Alzheimer's Disease at the Single-Cell Level

We used single-nuclei RNA-sequencing to systematically dissect the transcriptional adaptive neuroprotective response. We focused on the neurogenic stem cell niche within the dentate gyrus of APP/PS1 transgenic AD mice that exhibited improved cognitive flexibility after exercise with freewheel running. snRNAseq revealed that cell-type-specific responses to exercise were distinct in the wildtype mice and AD mice.
