We are going to examine the olivine microstructural development in the shocked meteorites The goal is to observe how the excessive shock strain distort crystals and further form subdomain by dislocation migration. Then, the microstructure of CaCO3 precipitated from bio-cementation in sand will be studied, in the case of a highly cemented sample. The results will be compared to the ones obtained previously for a lightly cemented sample. This will give more insight on the growth process of the calcium carbonate crystals. In the same time, we will explore the possibility of DFXM on other materials and its usage as well.
