Domestic travel made up about 80 percent of the hotel market across India in financial year 2020. This was estimated to remain stable in 2027. With alternatives to hotels in recent years, accelerated by the COVID pandemic, the dip in the market was expected to recover in the years to follow. Consequently, hotels experienced a drop from international travel due to lockdowns and restrictions in the last two years.
