Fill from a dark organic stain in a sand dune at Site AZ B:1:36(ASM) in northwest Arizona
was analyzed for pollen and macrofloral remains. Artifacts recovered from this stain also were
washed for pollen. This stain was exposed by a roadcut, and may represent the remains of
cultural activities from the Archaic Period. Pollen and macrofloral analyses are used to provide
information concerning subsistence activities to help determine eligibility of the site for inclusion
in the National Register of Historic Places.
