In English:
This dataset contains information on the ECOTER project, carrying out an
integrated study of Antarctic vegetation communities, including mosses, lichens
and vascular plants. The principal aim is to understand the ecological factors
responsible of the drastic descent in the biodiversity and productivity of the
Antarctic tundra that has been observed in the mainly maritime Antarctica to
continental Antarctica.The research group wants to cover the principal aspects
of the vegetable life in Antarctica: biodiversity ( vegetable communities,
flora and taxonomy), micro and mesoclimatic aspects, mosses and lichens
photosynthetic activity of mosses and lichends under natural conditions,
evaluation of the Antarctic tundra growth in relation with the main climatic
factors, determination of the optimal light and temperature for the
photosynthesis of the previously studied in continental Antarctica and the
capacity of seeds production and germination rate of the two vascular Antarctic
plants. All these studies are considered through a height gradient, with Monte
Reina Sofia as the highest point, with the aim of finding in a local region
similar behavioural tendencies that those observed between maritime and
continental Antarctica.

Este dataset contiene informacion sobre el proyecto ECOTER, que realiza un
estudio integrado de las comunidades vegetales antarticas, incluyendo musgos,
liquenes y plantas vasculares. El principal objetivo es comprender los factores
ecologicos responsables del drastico descenso en biodiversidad y productividad
de la tundra antartica que se observa al pasar de la denominada Antartida
maritima a la Antartida continental. El grupo de investigacion pretende cubrir
los principales aspectos de la vida vegetal en la Antartida: Biodiversidad
(comunidades vegetales, flora y taxonomia), micro- y mesoclima, actividad
fotosintetica de musgos y liquenes en condiciones naturales, evaluacion del
crecimiento de la tundra antartica en relacion con los principales factores
climaticos, determinacion de los optimos de luz y temperatura para la
fotosintesis de especies previamente investigadas en la Antartida continental y
capacidad de produccion de semillas y tasa de germinacion de las dos pla ntas
vasculares antarticas. Todos estos estudios se plantean a lo largo de un
gradiente de altura, que tiene al Monte Reina Sofia como punto culminante, con
el animo de encontrar en un ambito local tendencias analogas de comportamiento
a las observadas entre la Antartida maritima y la continental.
