资源简介:
Soil samples from five sites in the State Street-North Santiam Highway project near Salem,
Oregon, were sampled for pollen and macrofloral remains. Several charred botanic specimens
also were submitted for identification. Sites 35MA7, 35MA9, 35MA63, 35MA70, and 35MA12
currently are divided by highway interchange loops and ramps; however, these sites are believed
to represent a very large single site complex with superimposed and overlapping activity areas of
different ages. Features at these sites consist mainly of in-ground, rock-lined baking pits or ovens
ranging in size from 70 cm to 220 cm in diameter. Pollen and macrofloral analyses are used to
provide information concerning plant resources that were processed in these features.
