Records of heat maps of burglary rates and attempted burglaries of dwellings registered by the national police and gendarmerie

### Annual rates of burglaries and attempted burglary of housing, registered by the national police and gendarmerie, instead of commission, per 1,000 dwellings in urban units of more than 100000 inhabitants in France (excluding Guadeloupe, Guyana and Mayotte). _Format:_ card holdings. _Period:_ annual since 2016. _Number of urban units:_ 59 with more than 100000 inhabitants in 2017. The data mobilised for the construction of burglary rates and attempted burglaries are accurate at the scale of 200 m side tiles. Only non-insulated tiles containing sufficient housing are retained. The rates report the spatial average of offences – whose geolocation results from a partnership with INSEE – to that of the number of dwellings in the Social and Fiscal Localised File ([Filosofi](https://www.data.gouv.fr/fr/datasets/donnees-carroyees-issues-du-dispositif-sur-les-revenus-localises-fiscaux-et-sociaux-filosofi/)) produced by INSEE. For each urban unit and each year of registration, the tiles are divided and aggregated into 10 classes, specific to each vintage and each urban unit.
