Transcriptomes of normal aging brains in female nonhuman primates.

The objective was to study gene expression in the prefrontal cortex across the adult age using baboons as a nonhuman primate model. RNA-Seq data was analyzed by Weighted Gene Coexpression Network Analysis (WGCNA), and two modules containing 587 transcripts negatively correlated with age were identified. Brain tissues from the prefrontal cortex were collected at necropsy, snap-frozen in liquid nitrogen and stored at -80ºC until use. Total RNA was extracted from tissues to construct cDNA libraries, which were sequenced (2 x 150 bp) on the NovaSeq to profile the brain transcriptomes of these animals.
